As a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization, we rely on the public for support.  Our market started as a grassroots effort to combat the rising climb of obesity in our area by making fresh local food accessible to all.

In 2012, our vision was very clear: to grow and operate a sustainable farmers market for locally grown and produced food and artisan items. As we have grown, we have expanded our retail market, added a new program, The Harvest Kitchen The most important part of our work is providing the opportunity, support, and space for local producers and the community to come together for a common goal of growing and supporting our local food economy.

To support the workforce development and entrepreneurship aspects of our work, we began a partnership with local nonprofit Coalfield Development in May of 2025 to GROW what The Wild Ramp can do! Through this partnership, Coalfield’s teams, including Refresh Appalachia, RePower Appalachia, and Revitalize Appalachia, will work alongside our market to:

• Support grant writing and pursue collaborative opportunities with
additional community organizations
• Expand job training programs and host more community events
• Provide tailored business support for local food and farm entrepreneurs
• Make the Wild Ramp’s market more energy efficient
